North Cape

The Northern Cape is South Africa’s largest but most sparsely populated province. The area is famous for rich diamond mining deposits, the Kalahari desert, Namaqualand and the Orange River Basin. A land of contrasts, from the flowering splendour of Namaqualand to the red dunes of the Kalahari Desert, the Northern Cape offers numerous outdoor adventure activities and archeological heritage sites and natural wonders such as the Augrabies Falls.

The Northern Cape is home to various nature reserves, the majestic Augrabies Waterfalls, wine farms and numerous activities for outdoor enthusiasts.

For the intrepid visitor, the Orange River offers canoeing, white water rafting and fly-fishing adventures or you can go tracking with the Kalahari Bushmen to experience a unique closeness with nature and a taste of their culture and food.

The northern coastline of the Northern Cape Province, previously a restricted diamond mining area, is now open to organized tours and promises fascinating skipwrecks, the famous Namakwaland flower displays of spring and diamond mining sites at Port Nolloth.
