Cape Helderberg

The Helderberg area of the Western Cape includes the towns of Gordon's Bay, Somerset West, Macassar and Strand, situated around the Hottentots Holland and Helderberg mountains on the False Bay coastline. Only 45 minutes from Cape Town Central, the Helderberg is the gateway to the Overberg, Winelands and Garden Route.

Gordon's Bay
This picturesque cove with its steep mountain backdrop  is home to the South African Naval College, and its sheltered harbour plays host to numerous regattas and other yachting and angling events. Gordon's Bay, with its unique character, combines the flavour of an international resort with the charm of an old-style coastal town.
 
Somerset West  
Oak trees and thatched cottages, historic buildings and many national monuments add to the character and charm of this beautiful settlement. The famous beaches of Strand and Gordon's Bay are less than 15 minutes away and make the Helderberg a paradise for water sport enthusiasts and sunbathers. Somerset West is conveniently centrally located, being 48 km from Cape Town and 20 minutes away from Stellenbosch, the heart of the Cape Winelands.

To the east lies the spectacular scenic coastal drive over Pringle Bay, Betty's Bay, Kleinmond to Hermanus, while the N2 over Sir Lowry's Pass leads to the wonderful deciduous fruit growing region of Grabouw and Elgin.
