Realou Guesthouse is a small private Guest House with 7 suites, situated in one of  Franschhoek’s historical monuments (1868).

It is conveniently located in the heart of Franschhoek Village close to famous restaurants and within walking distance from many exquisite wine farms.

Realou stretches across a block on both van Wijk and Cabriere Street on the bottom exclusive vineyard half of Franschhoek Village. Realou is a historical monument painstakingly restored with yellow wood beams quarry tiles, Oregon Flooring, Corrugated Roofing and Cape Dutch Gable.

The Guesthouse

The guest house is beautifully restored with a lavish old world class. Each uniquely decorated suite has its own private entrance, and many suites are equipped with extravagant spa baths.

Realou has a heated swimming pool and a garden Jacuzzi, to drink wine and gaze at the stars late into the night. Guests can feel at home while sunbathing, relaxing on the lawns and having a barbecue with friends.

Each suite has its own private outside entrance so your comings and goings are unrestricted. Each Suite has a selection of satellite TV channels and for those with their own laptops free WiFi Access. Some of the rooms have their own Spa baths but all have walk in showers.

Franschhoek History.

Franschhoek also known as Franshook, Franshoek or French Corner. Is situated at the base of the magnificent Drakenstein Mountain Range. And one of the four Passes out of Cape Town Franschhoek, GPS Coordinates of 33° 55′ 0″ S, 19° 8′ 0″ E, with its snowy peaks in the June July winter periods and luscious Green Vineyards was previously called Olifants hoek. Afrikaans for Elephant Corner because of the many elephant herds to be found there. This was later renamed Franschhoek in 1688 by French Huguenot refugees, many of whom were given land by the then Dutch government. There are unfortunately no more elephants to be found in the area but the town boasts many of South Africa?s Best Restaurants and vineyards.
