Come and experience the ambience of a Western Cape farm in the mountains. Stanford Valley Guest Farm is nestled in the valley of the Klein Rivier, 10km outside of Stanford village. We offer comfortable accommodation in 5 self-catering cottages and 10 large en-suite rooms. Enjoy our safe and peaceful haven, go hiking or have an exhilarating swim in our large dam. Don't be surprised if you startle a duiker or ribbok on the way! On our 440ha farm we grow organic rose geranium and lavendin for essential oils. Our Afrikaner herd helps to restore our soil and you will meet our chicken, ducks and geese roaming freely. The prestigious future thinking and sustainability festival “freewheeling” was conceived at Stanford Valley and is held here annually in late summer, www.freewheeling.co.za. For three days some of South Africas leading thinkers, economists, scientists, artists, environmentalists convene here to share and dialogue their latest ideas with hundreds of festival guests.

About The Farm
Stanford Valley Guest Farm comprises 100Ha of land underagriculture and 270Ha of fynbos. The land forms part of the Akkedisberg Conservancy and boasts some rare fauna and flora.
The region is part of the fynbos biome, the richest of the six plant kingdoms of the world. This section of the Overberg is regarded as best for plant diversity with over 8000 plant species, two thirds of which are unique to the area.
There are beautiful walks and hiking trails and bird and flower spotting to be enjoyed. The red data species, Erica Shannonea, grows on our land.
Two rivers run through the property, as well as many dams and water points. We work closely with the Working for Water project to keep our watercourses clear of alien vegetation.
Environmental sustainability and good stewardship are priorities at the farm, and we are conducting research into alternative building methods for future developments, like adobe, straw bale, earth bag and cob.
