the village
On the slopes of Signal Hill this fashionable and historic Bo-Kaap area "De Waterkant Village" dates back to the late 1700’s. The name "Waterkant" originates from the Dutch word meaning "waters edge". Today this bohemian village and National Preservation site is one of Cape Town’s oldest and most attractive residential areas popular with local and international visitors.

The Village Lodge is at the centre of the village and ideally positioned within easy walking distance of the city centre, Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The area also boasts a good selection of highly recommended restaurants, coffee shops, wine bars, clubs, deli’s and designer shops. Hire Car companies are also within easy walking distance.

Over the last few years "the village lodge", the oldest accommodation company in the De Waterkant Village, has grown into a portfolio comprising of the village lodge with fifteen luxury bedrooms, a five bedroom luxury villa and a selection of luxury fully serviced cottages.

With our emphasis on providing stylish luxury rooms and cottages guests can enjoy an intimate and friendly service in this trendy and historic part of Cape Town.

...has eleven luxury and four standard en-suite rooms equipped with satellite television, direct dial telephones and room safes.

The luxury rooms have air-conditioning with mini-bars while the standard rooms have fans. All rooms have wireless internet access. Our reception and roof top pool bar with great panoramic Cape Town views is a relaxing focal point for all our guests.

Breakfast is taken in our restaurant Soho at The Village Lodge which is a sixty seat restaurant. For lunch and dinner try our delicious authentic Thai cuisine. The restaurant can also cater for private parties and corporate conferences.

...situated two minutes walk along Loader Street from The Village Lodge. This luxurious fully air-conditioned five bedroom retreat has an open plan living space, a large secluded garden and rim flow swimming pool. All bedrooms are en-suite, have WiFi internet access, satellite television, mini-bars, safes and direct dial telephones.

Breakfast is taken in our restaurant Soho at The Village Lodge.

In keeping with “the village lodge” high standards of comfort and sophistication we offer a selection of traditional and contemporary properties all with their own unique character & style.

Cottages offer space, privacy and home comforts; each is cleaned six days a week and all have fully fitted kitchens with complimentary tea and coffee, living rooms with television and music systems, wall safes and an outdoor area as standard.

The Village Lodge, located just around the corner, provides a relaxing focal point with reception, wireless hotspot and Soho restaurant which is open daily for breakfast and serves authentic Thai cuisine for lunch and diner.

Situated at The Village Lodge, our restaurant "SOHO" brings the cosmopolitan style of London to the heart of Cape Town.

This intimate restaurant serves some of the best café breakfasts in town.

Enjoy the sumptuous scrambles egg on toast with smoked salmon and caviar accompanied by a glass of champagne, or for the diet conscious why not try the forest berries with yoghurt.

Lunch and dinner at Soho is another world apart serving authentic Thai cuisine from Chang Mai and Bangkok in the fully air-conditioned chic restaurant or on the roof-top pool bar with unrivalled views of the Mother City.

Our extensive wine list includes some of the best South African wines and imported French champagnes.
