Utopia has been a household name in the Magaliesberg for more than 25 years and many visitors, who re-visit Utopia, frequently recall their wonderful memories of adventure and excitement during their younger years while visiting the resort.
Efforts to upgrade the reserve are continually underway and our newly built main complex with restaurant, shop, lapa, chapel and other sporting and leisruure facilites offers a great relaxing break-away or holiday away from the fast lane.
We offer accommodation in A-framed thatch chalets. Each has been tastefully decorated to make our guests feel at home.
Located in the majestic Magaliesberg range, in the maleria free North West Province of South Africa, the reserve is a favourite for the hiker, mountaineer and those seeking a back to nature holiday.
FEATURES
We specialise in short-term holiday accommodation. We offer fully equipped, affordable chalets. Each one comprising of a kitchenette (stove and fridge), lounge, sleeping for 4 or 6 people, bathroom and private patio with BBQ and beautiful mountain and river vistas. Quiet and private.
Utopia is set in a private nature reserve and in keeping with this there is no electricity. However some of the chalets have been modified to run lights off 12V. In order to preserve the wild life no pets are allowed and no noise is tolerated.

Hiking
Although there are marked trails, the 117 hectare resort has many paths and the river can be walked along. The scenery from any point on the reserve is ever changing and breathless and a full trip can take up to 3 hours. As we are in natural surroundings one should obviously watch out for snsakes and scorpions. We do stress that none of the flaura and fauna should be killed or disturbed.
Birding
No less that 100bird species have been identified on the reserve and visitors are kindly requested to notify the office of any sightings of species that have not been recorded on our list. In this way we can keep our bird list up to date and relevant.
